Rec Overview
The Department of Recreation consists of a Recreation Director, Greta Kenney, and a part-time Assistant Director, Patti Marcine. There is also a Recreation Committee, which meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month at the Municipal building at 7:30 pm. The meetings are open to all members of the community.
The program consists of many different programs, which would not exist if it weren't for the hundreds of volunteers who turn out to coach and sponsor our various activities.
The activities include, but are not limited to, sports programs for children and adults where over 800 people participate on a regular basis. Some examples of these programs are Volleyball, Basketball and Soccer for children and adults and a very well attended Aerobics program directed by Donna Gulick.
The Summer Recreation program, which runs for 6 weeks, conducts full and part time activities for over 450 children from ages 5 - 10 years. Patti Marcine directs the Program.
There are special programs for Halloween and Easter which are co-sponsored by the Moms Clubs of Readington Township as well as picnics and a yearly family fun day held at Pickell Park immediately following the Memorial Day Parade.
In the past year several new programs have been added to our offerings, they include but are not limited to In-Line Skating at Summer Road Park, Social/Ballroom Dancing and a free Karate Program coordinated with Branchburg Police Dept.
Looking to the future, Recreation is looking for a site to have an after school/teen program, start a 1st & 2nd Grade Basketball Program, increase offerings to seniors and add Yoga to the list of our many activities.
